The Gig (thanks Alan) does indeed take place in Doyles of Trinity Street. I spent so much time working out what to say I forgot the essential. The Date. Martin Posted by martin @ 12:54 PM GMT Friday, March 18, 2005 [Ruby Sessions Dublin Woody Sagoo Tribute Night] Ruby Sessions in Doyle's of Trinity Street run by Eleanor Mc-Guinness and Niall Muckian have very kindly dedicated a night to the Life and Work of Woody Sagoo. Bands participating will be Hothouse Flowers, Colm Quearney and Q, and The West Seventies who featured Robin Hurt who played guitar on a number of Woodies unreleased tracks. Woody passed away 2 days before he was due to go into the Studio with Colm Q and begin work on his Debut Album. There will be Special Guests on the Night who cannot be named for Contractual reasons but suffice it to say that they were all people Woody had played with in the past. His Management would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the people who supported Woody. "A beautiful Man, A Wonderful Musician, and a Truly Loyal Friend". They'll be in the photo gallery soon. Alan ... Time Passes ... OK, the photo's are up :) Many thanks go out to everyone who attended, the musicians who played (including Mick Sheridan, Eugene Doyle, Matthew McDonald, Liam Byrne, Rob Weldon, Luke Cosgrave, John Thompson, Brendan and Liam of The Last Laugh, John Dover, Ann Boyle, Cormac O'Toole, The Wild Turkeys and many more). I would also like to extend a personal thanks to the people who organised the event, Jenny Fortune and Martin Devitt, aided by Mick Fortune. It means a great deal to me to know Richard had such wonderful, caring friends - I know how much you helped Richard when he was going through hard times, and I will always be grateful and honoured. Our mother, Lorraine, is also very grateful to you, both for organising this tribute, and for the care you took of Richard when he needed it - you will always be in our prayers. Thanks also to Aileen Lambert and Mick Fortune for videoing the event. We will see what we can do about making the video available on the website - check back for more info. Thanks are also due to everyone who donated for the raffle, to Ivar and Sheila Johnson of the Macamore Inn, and of course, to everybody who turned up on the evening to support the tribute. I know it was a fabulous evening, and a fitting tribute to my brother. A lot of money was raised on the night, and I really think that a memorial for Richard from his closest friends and musician colleagues is a fabulous idea. As I get more information about this, I will post it here. I am sorry that neither I nor our mother Lorraine could attend on the evening, but it would definitely have been more than we could have coped with :*(. It has been a tremendous help to us to know how much Richard was loved as a human being, and respected as a musician. Again, Love and Thanks to all who organised, performed and attended for Richard rgds Alan Posted by alan @ 04:06 PM GMT Friday, December 17, 2004 [Richard "Woody" MacDonald Sagoo, 1971 - 2004] It is with great sadness and shock that I write this entry. My beloved brother, Richard, died in the early hours of last Saturday night from a cardiac arrest. He was being transported to the hospital in Wexford for treatment. The paramedics and doctors tried to revive him for 40 minutes, but were unsuccessful. His funeral on Monday last was attended by a huge number of family and friends, and I would like to express both mine, and our mother, Lorraine's, gratitude to all those who came to say goodbye. To all the family members, members of the fellowships, friends and fellow musicians, THANK YOU! Richards musical colleagues gave him an escort with guitars from the Church to the graveyard, and it was a great honour. All his family and friends are stunned at the loss of this great person, and we are still coming to terms with this tragedy. He will live on, however, through his music, and the wonderful memories we have of him. His love of life, and his deep caring and sensitivity will always be remembered. He was a deeply spiritual person, who cared a great deal about what was going on around him, and in the lives of his friends and family. His sense of humour was legendary, and woe betide the unlucky heckler who tried to butt in at a concert! We should all also remember the fact that we all now have a Guardian Angel who knows Tae-Kwon Do! I am going to keep this site going, and update it with information, news and stuff as I get it.
