12/05/2002 Entry: "Jim Page Tour October 2002"
Hi there folks, October was a busy month for Martin as he organised a tour around Ireland for the Seattle based singer/songwriter Jim Page who is best known around these parts for writing and performing the song "Hiroshima,Nagasaki,Russian Roullette". Christy Moore and "Moving Hearts" continued to make the song even more popular during the eighties, indeed the song was used as the anthem for the protest movement against the building of a nuclear power station at carnsore point. Suffice to say it worked and I believe ther's a wind farm there now instead! After his latest tour I'm sure he will also be remembered for his large repertoire of protest songs, touching love songs and polished performances.
I played with Jim and Dana Lyons (another Seattle based songwriter) in Colfer's of Carrick on Bannow Co. Wexford and in Whelan's of Wexford St. Dublin during October and I was delighted to be playing with him the night he received a lifetime achievement award from Earthwatch and Friends of the Earth.
